Lost Until You’re Found

A man walking through the woods on a clearly marked path has peace. He has confidence in the direction given by the markings and in the person who created them. Staying on the path and relying on the guidance of the marks gives him freedom to enjoy all his surroundings. If for some reason he decides to step off the path and do a little exploring on his own he finds he enjoys this different kind of freedom and self reliance, he is making his own way. But as he goes deeper into the woods a thought creeps into his mind, he’s not exactly sure which direction he’s walking, and whether or not he knows how to get home from here. Fear and dread now set in and all enjoyment of nature’s beauty turns into dread of being lost, maybe forever. Will I ever get out of here? Will anyone ever come find me if I can’t?

This is like all of our lives. This is your life. Whether we recognize it or not, we have all left the path that God originally intended for us to follow. The intended path was one where we walk in step with Him, following in His ways, and in doing so we have the freedom to enjoy the beauty of all He created and the life He has given us. We have all willingly walked away from the Creator and His plan for our life.

“We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way” Isaiah 53:6

There is one comfort in this dire situation, and that is that Jesus has come after us. He has come to find us and to bring us home. He left His place in heaven, to come seek after us, to rescue us.

“What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open pasture and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? When he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!'” Matthew 18:12-14

God is seeking you out, because you are indeed lost. He knows you by name. He knows the way home. In fact He IS the way home. He has provided a way for you who are lost, to be found forever, to become a child of God, to be forgiven fully, to have new life, to have a home forever in His arms. Jesus came to find you, and if you would turn to Him, if you would believe that He is indeed the Savior that He died for you, and that He lives, and that He is the only way to God, if you would call out to Him for forgiveness today, then today you will find your way home.

He came from heaven to earth to find you and to guide you home.

Would you believe in Jesus and be found today?
