It may sound crazy to you…but God did indeed make mankind in His image.

“Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’ God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. ” Genesis 1:26-27

“When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained; What is man that You take thought of him, And the son of man that You care for him? Yet You have made him a little lower than God, And You crown him with glory and majesty!” Psalm 8:3-8

God blessed mankind with amazing abilities and attributes on a level of sophistication not given to any other living things including language, creativity, love, and freedom.

Not only are you and I made in God’s image, but there is a beauty and mastery that God used specifically in creating you. God’s Word says :

“For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth” Psalm 139:13-15

Because you were made in the image of God, your life has tremendous value to Him. Your life is even described as a gift from God and a reward to those who gave birth to you, whether they recognized it or not, God did :

“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.” Psalm 127:3

Because of who you are to God, because of His great love for you, He sent His Son Jesus to die for you.
