Savior of The World

Jesus is referred to as the Savior because He came from heaven to this earth for the purpose of saving us…all of us…

“Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” 1 Timothy 1:15.

People sometimes scoff at the word sinner, considering it just a religious term meant to cause unnecessary guilt. The fact is we are indeed all sinners, you included. This shows itself in our lives on a daily basis when we lie, when we steal, when we hate, when we gossip, when we cheat, when we are selfish, when we kill. Our lives are full of sin, even the “best” of us cannot go a day without sinning. God on the other hand, the One who created you and gave you life, He is perfect, He is holy, and He is righteous, and He is just. In Him is no sin whatsoever, and He cannot live with sin, He cannot live in its presence, and He cannot allow it to go unpunished for He is just and righteous.

“There is no one righteous, not even one….” Romans 3:10
“All have fallen short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

It is as if you and I stand on one side of the Grand Canyon, and God is on the other side. There is no possible way for you to cross over to Him. The separation you have created because of the choices you make in your life causes this. But God, in His great love for you, in His desire to save you from the punishment you are owed for what you’ve done against Him, in His desire to make you His child, in His desire to forgive all your sins and make you clean He made a way. He sent His Son, Jesus, to live a sinless life, and to take the punishment for all of your sin through a gruesome death on a cross.

“…God demonstrates His great love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

Jesus died on that cross, so that you might be able to cross over to Him. In this sole act, the Perfect One became a sacrifice, paying your debt to God.

And so God has said that anyone, anywhere, who calls on the name of Jesus, believing that He lived, and died on that cross for their sins, and that He rose from the dead, will be saved from their sins. If only we would turn to Him…

“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13

Would you turn to Him today ?
